Looking for a safe 1.6 version with working MasterServer list
Is it just me, or is it getting impossible to find a working version of 1.6 that isn't broken? I’ve downloaded three different versions this week and every single one has a "Find Servers" tab that is completely empty. It’s so frustrating because I just want to hop into a random public match like the old days. I'm also really paranoid about malware because my last attempt flagged a bunch of trojans in the .exe file. Does anyone have a link to a verified, "clean" CS 1.6 free version that actually has an active server list? I don't care about fancy skins; I just want the original 2003 vibe with working multiplayer.

That’s a classic issue because many of the old masterservers no longer work properly, so the in-game browser can end up showing empty or fake servers. Usually the easiest fix is using a newer client version with updated server lists.
